How to Repair Windows Registry
Errors & Corrupt Files
Yourself
A Guide / Tutorial

Ok, so
you've managed to narrow down the possible issues with your
PC, and have determined that it is your Windows Registry
that's to blame for the steady decline in your PC’s
performance.
How do
you fix this you ask? Read below....
Outlined below you will find a short overview of a few options
you have to attempt to fix
your PC registry yourself.
Assuming
your computer (and faulty registry) still has some
functionality, you will want to run a “System
Restore.” For those
of you using Windows 2000 and up
(i.e.Vista
and XP)
follow the instructions below:
Go to
Start >>
then
All Programs >>
then Accessories
>> then System Tools >> click
on Backup
OR "System
Restore" (if you
are using Vista
).
When the system
restore program comes up, choose a restoration point that
dates back before the first time you began noticing
problems with your PC registry. Next, just follow the
prompts and this will restore your computer’s
configuration back to normal
(hopefully).
With any
luck, this process may have repaired your
registry.
If
this did not result in a “registry fix” OR if you are still
experiencing registry errors, then continue below, OR click
on Download registry
fix for
alternative options.
The next
step is to remove OR update faulty registry
data.
WARNING:
before you complete this next step, BACKUP THE
REGISTRY!!!
how to backup
and restore your computer’s registry. It is a long process,
and not recommended for those of us who are technically inept.
Now that
you have performed a registry backup and recovery by going
through the process manually or by using one of our recommended
downloads such as REGISTRYEASY
, you
will need to edit your registry and make the necessary
adjustments.
PLEASE
PROCEED WITH CAUTION: If you are
not familiar with this process, leave it to a Pro, or use safe
and reliable registry repair software such as REGISRTYEASY that will
automate the process for you. Editing the wrong files, or
making an error on your end may result in complete
incapacitation of your computer. At that point your computer
(and its windows registry) will become nothing more than a
big expensive paperweight!
However, if
you feel comfortable attempting this yourself, go to your
system’s default registry editing software. Again, IF YOU DO
NOT KNOW WHERE THIS IS THEN YOU SHOULD NOT BE ATTEMPTING THIS ON
YOUR OWN.
Utilizing a
registry repair software program
and/or registry repair download
for registry
repair options)
is a much
safer, faster, and easier way to complete
a Windows registry
recovery.
